SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven, dear ones; oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder why I so calmly trod the valley of the shade?

Oh, but Jesus' love illuminated every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread;

And with Jesus' arm to lean on, could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still;

Try to look beyond earth's shadow, pray to trust our Father's will.

There is work still waiting for you , so you must not idly stand;

Do it now, while life remaineth - you shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home;

Oh, the rapture of that meeting; oh, the joy to see you come!

"I am the light of the world; he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." - John 8:12

These last few days Christine and I have been discovering several positive little notes Mom had left for herself around the house. My favorite is "I am too blessed to be stressed!"  We also came across a poem she had printed out...we feel compelled to share it with you. However, I do recommend keeping a tissue box handy!

Poem reads:

If tears could build a stairway,

And memories were a lane,

We would walk right up to heaven,

And bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken,

No time to say goodbye,

You were gone before we knew it,

And only God knows why.

Our hearts still ache in sadness,

And secret tears still flow,

What it meant to lose you ,

No one can ever know.

But now we know you want us,

To mourn for you no more,

To remember all the happy times,

Life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten,

We pledge to you today,

A hallowed place within our hearts,

Is where you'll always stay.
